Alas the ice break! Pakistan secured there first T20 victory against India. Before this India won two out of three matches and the third one was a draw.
Pakistan's skipper Muhammad Hafeez won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan team having 3 leading wicket taking bowlers in the team 11. There bowling line-up looks much much stronger than the Indians. They introduce 7'1'' tall left arm fast bowler Muhammad Irfan who had an impressive debut making Indian batsman to remain careful from his pace and uneven bounce which will surely be another threat from Pakistani bowling attack to all Batting line up in the world. Pakistan team although didn't manage to pick any wickets in first 10 overs but manage to control the run rate under seven and a half which was an enormous effort against Indian batting line-up. Indians lost their first wicket Rahanne @77 which was pick up by Shahid Afridi who was deceived well in flight and was unable to hit the ball out of the park and the catch was taken by Umar Akmal. After that Gambhir was run out by flat throw of Sohail Tanveer. He was looking rusty in his inning although he put two boundaries and one six in his inning of 43 of 41 balls. Then Yuvraj singh came and hit the six in his first ball. At that moment it was look like Indians may achieve a target of 160 easily. But as Pakistan team has a very experienced bowling attack, Umar gul pick up yuvraj singh at the same time when it was needed.Kholi was captured by debutant in his last over. Dhoni was out of a soft dismissal and Raina was unable to read the doosra of Ajmal both were castled by Saeed Ajmal. Indians have got the set partnership from their opening stand but was required was a good cameo from any one batter but they were loosing wickets against a competent and threatening bowling attack of Pakistan.In the penultimate over Umar Gull pick two consecutive wickets one of Jadeja and other of Ishant Sharma and thus nine wickets were went down of India in just 124. The target of 134 looks pretty easy on a Chinaswamy stadium pitch but was not as easy as it looks. Indian debutant who is not as huge as Pakistani debutant- Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls a splendid in-swingers and pick Nasir, Shehzad and Umar Akmal in his first two overs which turns the table of the match. Pakistan team were 12/3 and they were eager to have a partnership like Indians have it. Then there was Shoaib Malik enters in to the pressure cooker giving support to Muhammad Hafeez(Captain of Pakistan) who batted at No.3. As they both have experienced of playing T20 matches and for Malik this was not new for him as he has done against India few times in past. So the idea was to play some dot delivers and hit them in the middle overs. As they went on with part timers in the middle overs so it was all the matter of time to survive the first six overs. Pakistan got fifty in 62 balls which was frightening as now they need some hits as the run rate went up to 9. And Hafeez without loosing any time went on and hit bowls out of the Park. Pakistan team put five sixes in that innings. And once again they were feeling the pressure when Hafeez loses his wicket against Sharma; Also Shoaib Malik was saved by a height no-ball which was caught well by Jadega. And in the same over some sledging went on between Kamran Akmal and Ishnat Sharma which put Pakistan team on a pressure and Kamran went out which was caught by his best friend Ishant Sharma. After the penultimate over Pakistan required 10 runs in the last six balls and Afridi and Malik were there to face an inexperienced Jadega. But in the end Malik put a sixer which seals Pakistan victory.
Cricket Extra:
* Impressive Debut for the bowlers, Muhammad Irfan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Statistically Kumar performed well. But every one is talking about Irfan. You know why? :)
* Pakistan Won the toss but Indian put a good partnership of 77 which was the reason they could achieve a respectable total.
*Pakistani bowlers didn't bowl any lose deliveries and gave 33 runs in the last seven overs which was a special effort from the bowlers which restricted India under 140.
*Young openers and Umar Akmal have the chance to become a star but they lost the best opportunity. On the other hand Rahanne does well with Gambhir.
*India got a promising fast bowlers but hoping that he may not listed in to the long injured fast bowling list.
*India was one bowler short which can be seen when Pakistan team scores 50 runs in 30 balls in the mid of an innings. Thanks to set batsman Hafeez and Malik.
*Kholi, Yuvraj and Jadeja conceded 75-0 in 7.4 overs whereas Afridi and Hafeez conceded 38-1 in five overs. What to Say?
* Pakistan team played 57 dot balls almost half an inning. It shows the pressure which was created by Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Pakistan 12-3 in 3 overs.
*Shoaib Malik played well as he did against India in Centurion in last ICC champions trophy. But Pakistan top order need to take responsibility or else prepare for some serious result.
*On which basis Shahid Afridi will be placed in ODI squad on the other hand Shoaib Malik is showing responsibility who is also not in the ODI squad?
*Next match India need to score high if they bat first because there strength is batting. Irfan will be attacked more. Pakistani top order need to show some responsibility.
*Ahmadabad has something for spinners. Pakistan need to think about Zulfiquar Babar. Also there is not much bounce as we see against England in test Series.May be dropping Tanvir will be a good idea. Let's see. Ajmal role will be critical to win the series against India.
* Ashwin will surely be introduced in the second T20 adding some stability in the bowling depart of India yes he bats well also.
